Vrijwel elke site kent tegenwoordig een puntensysteem dat je kunt vergelijken met AH-zegels of airmiles sparen. Zo ook pokerstars. Bij Everest kon je daarmee voor vrijwel elk toernooi inschrijven, en zo heb ik me dan ook met deze punten geplaatst voor de EPT. En dat smaakt natuurlijk naar meer. Pokerstars (PS) kent deze punten dus ook en hier worden ze FPP's genoemd. (frequently player points of zoiets).
Verder hebben ze een stappenprogramma, ook wel de steps genoemd om je te kunnen plaatsen voor de EPT. Er zijn 6 van deze stappen (of eigenlijk treden). Het principe is gebaseerd op de Sit en Go, oftewel je gaat met 9 man aan tafel zitten en de laatste twee gaan door naar de volgende stap. De nummer 3 en 4 krijgen meestal ook nog wat. Afhankelijk van de step krijgen ze een herkansing voor dezelfde step, of mogen de het een treedje lager nog eens proberen.
Je kunt je direct inkopen voor deze steps en voor de eerste step ook met je FPP's. Mijn 11 350 FPPs was dus genoeg om 22 van deze steps te kunnen spelen. Ze starten ongeveer elke 5 minuten en ik speel er 4 direct na elkaar. Aangezien het turbo's zijn, duren ze niet zo lang en met 45-50 minuten ben je dan ook met alle vier klaar. Dat vind ik wel prettig, want met de meeste toernooien ben je gelijk ook verplicht om urenlang onafgebroken achter je computer te zitten.
Hoe dan ook begon het slecht: uit de eerste acht scoorde ik slechts één stap 2 ticket en één herkansing. Het zat dan ook niet echt mee. In één van de eerste toernooien kreeg ik KK, tegen AA. Een later toernooi duurde zelfs precies één hand voor mij. Ik raise met KK, iemand reraist en ik ga maar all-in. De call werd gemaakt met JJ, de J kwam direct op de flop. Tja.
Daarna ging het beter. Een heel stuk beter zelfs. In de 14 keer dat ik nog kon spelen haal je gemiddeld dus (14*2/9) = 3,11 tickets en 1,6 herkansingen. Ik haalde er respectievelijk 6 en 3. Deze tickets tezamen hebben een waarde van $220, hoewel je er niets anders mee kan dan proberen te kwalificeren.
Verder had ik nog twee step 3 en een step 5 ticket vanwege de PCA. Totaal dus:
Step 1 ($7,50) : 4
Step 2 ($27,00): 7
Step 3 ($82): 2
Step 4 ($215) : 0
Step 5 ($700): 1
Step 6: ($2100): 0
Totale waarde: $1083 (14 tickets).

Inmiddels de vier step 1 herkansingen gespeeld en twee daarvan zijn omgezet naar een step 2 ticket. Eén keer vierde geworden wat nog een troostprijs oplevert van $1,50. Verder had ik weer voldoende FPP's voor een laatste step 1 en ook die is omgezet. Een zeer goed resultaat en nu staan we er als volgt voor:
Step 1 ($7,50) : 0
Step 2 ($27,00): 10
Step 3 ($82): 2
Step 4 ($215) : 0
Step 5 ($700): 1
Step 6: ($2100): 0
Totale waarde: $1134 (13 tickets).

10x step 2 dus, laten we dat maar eens proberen. de eerste sessie was heel erg goed, 2 herkansingen en twee keer door naar step 3. Volgende sessie: 2x door, één herkansing en één troostprijs want ik mag het op step 1 weer proberen. Ook een goed resultaat. Dan heb ik nog 5 tickets over en aangezien ik er op de eerste tafel wel heel erg snel uitlig wordt het een sessie van 5 tafels. Mischien is die hand wel interessant: EP maakt een standaard raise en ik call alleen maar met QQ. Iets wat ik heel zelden of zelfs nog minder dan dat doe. Maar het is een idee dat ik heb opgepakt ergens. Nou goed, nog drie spelers callen en de flop komt QTx. EP checkt en ik zet mijn slowplay door met topset. Iemand zal toch wel hebben gehit en betten? Maar nee, het wordt rondgecheckt. Turn is een J zodat er nu ook QJTx ligt met een flush draw ook nog. Een echt actieboard inmiddels. Ik verlies nu van AK,K9 en 98. AK en K9 liggen niet erg voor de hand maar ik zeg nog hardop: als hij nou 98 heeft voel ik me wel erg dom. (Gelukkig hoorde niemand het.) Nou, jullie raden het al: hij had inderdaad 98 en deze hand kostte me zoveel punten dat ik niet meer terugkwam.
Err, ben een beetje afgedwaald, anyway, deze 5-sessie wordt één step 3 ticket en één herkansing. Drie tickets 'verloren' onderweg, en de huidige stand zou nu moeten zijn:
Step 1 ($7,50) : 1
Step 2 ($27,00): 1
Step 3 ($82): 7
Step 4 ($215) : 0
Step 5 ($700): 1
Step 6: ($2100): 0
Totale waarde: $1308 (10 tickets).
Deze step 2 lijken extreem juicy. Het nivo is zeker lager dan in de normale SnG's die ik gewend ben te spelen en de buy-in is toch nog wel $27. Deze sessie van 15 pogingen is natuurlijk niet representatief, maar gemiddeld won ik $19 per tafel. In eeen 4-uur sessie moet je toch iets van 24-26 tafels kunnen doen want het lijkt op dit moment in elk geval zeer populair en het loopt in elk geval goed door. Dat is dan $450-$480, in elk geval meer dan $100 per uur. Nu heb ik vast meer dan gemiddeld geluk gehad, maar voor $50 per uur doe ik het ook wel. Het is jammer dat je de tickets niet kunt verkopen, want anders ging ik het zeker eens proberen.
